Learning a New Skill:: Crochet Cables {With These 2 Hands Link-Up #1}

Life has a way of crowding out our moments to create. Fighting for the time to rejuvenate, to engage in creativity is worth the effort.

This year, I feel like it is a constant fight for some moments to spend with sticks and string.

Despite the busyness of life, I have managed to complete my first crafting goal for 2013. I wanted to learn a new skill, and I did!

I have learned how to crochet cables!

Of course, I already knew how to work a front or back post double crochet, but I had never known about twisting them around other stitches to make cables.

And in true Connie style, I began learning the skill with a pattern but didn't bother to finish said pattern before I began working my own design. Yep, that's how I roll.

Danielle will be happy to know that her headband should be finished by this weekend! I can't wait to snap a few photos of this lovely creation when it's all complete!

I am so thrilled that crochet cables was my first new skill of the year! And I'm sure I'll be dreaming up all sorts of projects to make with crochet cables!

  1. Those look SO much better than when I’ve tried to crochet cables before… I think I need a tutorial from you. 🙂 I love the look of cables, but I don’t know how to knit (beyond the basic stitch). Do you have an online tutorial you recommend?

      If you search Ravelry, I know there are hat patterns using crochet cables– that’s how I learned the stitch originally.
