My name is Connie. I love daisies. A lot. That's why I'm known as daisyhead or daisy girl at various places I visit on the net. Like Ravelry~ I'm there a lot.
I taught myself to crochet when I was 8 years old. I loved it. I loved creating. I was constantly changing patterns to suit my needs or creating things out of my head with no help of a pattern.
I learned to knit when I was about 10 years old, but hated it. It was much too slow. I hated throwing the yarn with my right hand (& arm). I hated all the counting. I would knit very simple, small projects, but only if I really did not appreciate said object in crochet. And what I mean by that is: I very rarely knitted.
When Baby #5 was born, I discovered wool soakers. I had only seen the really expensive machine knit soakers before this, but found handknit and crocheted soakers through a homeschool forum. I had to try it.
I crocheted and tried out my first soaker. I wanted a fabric that was a little more stretchy. I decided to endure the pain of knitting one soaker to try. I was hooked. By the time the baby was one year old, I was knitting all the time and had begun writing my own soaker patterns. From there, it was a quick decent into addiction.
I now knit every day.
And I always have a new pattern floating around in my head just waiting to get out.
